Morocco motorbike trip 3.jpg

Marrakesh ° Morocco ° 11 days

Morocco, no1 country in Africa for bikers! Pearl of Africa if we measure with the number of awesome roads... and do not count wildlife! But even if we count wildlife parks, only South Africa goes before Morocco on the whole continent!

Day 2 ° Marrakech - Rabat

352km, 5h 36m ° b,l,d

It’s the show time after Arabian breakfast. Our 1st driving days destination is the capital of Morocco, modern Rabat. We drive to Rabat via beautiful easygoing countryside. Many villages looks like there have not been much happening in the last 100 years… and it’s just because there have not been many happenings in the last 100 years! :) In Rabat, there has been a lot of happening and it’s like a different world from the small villages!

Day 3 ° Rabat - Chefchaouen

290km, 4h 33m ° b,l,d

In the morning we are a bit cultural and we visit the 2 main sights in Rabat. Hassan Tower and the tomb of King Mohamed V! From there we head northeast and Souk El Arbaa! After Souk El Arbaa the scenery and roads a getting better and better all the way to the blue Chefchaouen! And no, there have not been any filming of Smurf-movie in Chefchaouen like in Andalucia’s Juzcar! The medina is blue because Jewish refugees painted it blue in 1492 after escaping the Spanish inquisition!

Blue Chefchauoen.jpg

Day 4 ° Chefchaouen - El Hoceima

237km, 4h ° b,l,d

In the morning we stroll around the medina (old city) by foot without driving gear and maybe have a mint-tea or two at some small tea stall! When our eyes are full of blue, we hit the road! And it will only spectacular awesome road today. We believe you can live with that! From Chefchaouen we drive cross the Rif Mountains to Quaa Asserassa where fro we follow Mediterranean costline all the way to El Hoceima!

Fes tannery.jpg

Day 6 ° Fes

0km ° b

Day of in mediavel Fes el Bali. Today only Fes. Medina of Fes is an amazing labyrint. And one ‘must’ in Fes is to visit the oldest leather tannery in the world, Chouara Tannery! Medina is a huge sight itself, but if you want to visit some museum, Borj Nord Arms Museum is good. If you feel for hiking, Mount Zalagh is a popular place for that just next to the city!

Day 7 ° Fes - Errachidia

349km, 5h 14m ° b,l,d

Back to the most important thing, driving. And today we have a great driving day… again! We drive across the Middle Atlas Mountains and High Atlas Mountains on the way to the nice Errachidia, a green Berber city in the middle desert. This is an easygoing fun driving day with small traffic and big views!

Day 8 ° Errachidia - Merzouga

127km, 1h 54m ° b,l,d

We drive to the edge of the Sahara Desert in the morning! And in the afternoon we drive into the Sahara Desert! With 4 wheels! We do after lunch a fun two hours ATV-tour on the dunes of Sahara! But before that visit MNAM... Morocco National Auto Museum! Yes, it's naturally here in the small Merzouga! The small and symoatic Merzouga is also our home tonight!

Gorge du Todra.jpg

Day 9 ° Merzoura - Gorges du Dades

306km ° 4h 38m ° b,l,d

We try to avoid sound boring, but... an awesome day again! First we drive to Tinghir for lunch! From Tinghir we drive into the fasinating Gorges Du Todra which is also a great place for a mint-tea or two. From Gorges du Todra we drive to an other Highlight of Morocco, Gorges du Dades! This is also our final destination today!

Day 10 ° Gorges du Dades - Marrakech

331km, 5h 49m ° b,l,d

Last but not least driving day. And surprise surprise, this is also a very nice one. Our first half of the day is mountainous countryside with small roads. On the second half of our driving day, we drive across the High Atlas Mountains once more! After High Atlas, we have 1000 and 1 stories Marrakech in front of us. In the evening we end wherefrom we started. The magical central square of Marrakesh!
